A good buddy of mine … we’ll call him Kim just so we don’t get confused … gave me shit for missing the tribute to Merle Haggard a few weeks back … not that Kim has ever been shy about giving me shit but in this particular case, he was right … Merle Haggard’s life should not be missed … the lines on his face read like a war map as he was raised during the great depression, literally in a box car . His father died when he was nine and he spent most of his early life either running from the law or in jail. But he had a gift … and if you have never sat down and listened to his music do yourself a favour and go to Youtube, right now, (or at least after you read this) and get a earful of a truly classic and iconic country singer. This guy was the real thing.
